Bill Laws poses with his bike in front of the CalFresh stand at the Country Club Plaza farmers’ market. Preparing to deliver a market flower arrangement to a residential facility on Easter Avenue, Bill is all smiles. “I found how dangerous it was to use the old bike path along El Camino Avenue, ” says the enthusiastic volunteer and editor of the Open Sky Market blog. “I wish their were better ways for pedestrians and bicyclists to get to the farmers’ markets.”
In May and June Open Sky will be looking for bicyclists who want to deliver flowers from the Country Club Plaza market to various sites in the Arden-Carmichael area. “Right now I’m calling this volunteer effort the Bicycle Open Sky Flower Operation or BOSFO for short. “We have the vases, plants and all we need are the wheels and backpacks to tote the floral arrangements.”
